"I started Vet Buddies because pet care had become too fragmented and too reactive. Families were seeing a different vet every visit, explaining their pet's history from scratch every time — and nobody was looking at the whole picture. I built Vet Buddies to change that."

Every Vet Buddy is a CSU veterinary student personally selected and supervised by Dr. Rodgers. They are your dedicated primary contact — building your pet's health profile, conducting proactive check-ins, and providing guidance between visits. When something needs a veterinarian's clinical judgment, your Vet Buddy escalates directly to Dr. Rodgers, who reviews the case and directs next steps.

With experience across general practice, urgent care, and emergency medicine — and licensure in five states — Dr. Rodgers brings a depth of clinical perspective that informs every recommendation made through Vet Buddies. You get a dedicated care relationship backed by real veterinary authority.

How It Works
Your Pet's Care Team, Explained

Vet Buddies isn't a hotline or an app. It's a structured care relationship with real people — supervised by a licensed DVM with experience across general practice, urgent care, and emergency settings.

1
Your Primary Contact

Meet Your Vet Buddy

You're paired with a dedicated Vet Buddy — a CSU veterinary student in their clinical training, personally selected by Dr. Rodgers. They build your pet's health profile, conduct your monthly check-ins, and are your go-to for ongoing questions and guidance.

2
Ongoing Care

Proactive Support Between Visits

Your Vet Buddy stays in regular contact — not just when something's wrong. Behavior questions, nutrition guidance, health check-ins, and triage support are all part of the membership. This is ongoing care, not on-demand emergency response.

3
Veterinary Oversight

Dr. Rodgers Is Always in the Loop

Your Vet Buddy has direct access to Dr. Rodgers at all times. When something needs a veterinarian's guidance, it gets escalated immediately. Dr. Rodgers reviews cases, directs clinical decisions, and maintains medical oversight across every membership.

The Vet Buddies Model
Proactive Care, Not Reactive Visits

Traditional Vet Care

  • Reactive — you go when something's wrong
  • No continuity — a different vet every visit
  • Explaining your pet's history from scratch, again
  • Days-long waits for callbacks on basic questions
  • Emergency pricing for guidance that should be routine

Vet Buddies

  • Proactive — regular check-ins catch issues early
  • A dedicated Vet Buddy who knows your pet's full history
  • Professional guidance available when you actually need it
  • Behavior, nutrition, and health accountability between visits
  • Licensed DVM oversight behind every recommendation

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Who will I actually be talking to? +
Your primary contact is your dedicated Vet Buddy — a CSU veterinary student in their clinical training, personally selected and supervised by Dr. Rodgers. They handle your day-to-day questions, conduct your wellness check-ins, and maintain your pet's health profile. When something needs a veterinarian's judgment, your Vet Buddy escalates directly to Dr. Rodgers, who reviews the case and guides the recommendation. You always have DVM oversight — through a team built for ongoing care.
Can you work with my regular vet? +
Yes — Vet Buddies complements your primary vet. We help you navigate decisions, provide guidance on when to seek emergency care, and serve as your dedicated support partner between regular check-ups.
What are Dr. Rodgers' credentials? +
Dr. Jake Rodgers holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and is licensed across multiple states. He has practiced in general practice, urgent care, and emergency settings — giving him a breadth of clinical experience that informs how Vet Buddies approaches proactive pet health. He founded Vet Buddies to bring that same standard of care into an ongoing, relationship-based model for pet families.
What makes this different from just texting my vet? +
Most vets aren't reachable between appointments, and a quick text doesn't come with accountability, a care plan, or any real continuity. Vet Buddies is a structured membership — your dedicated Vet Buddy maintains a full health profile for your pet, conducts proactive check-ins, and provides ongoing guidance backed by Dr. Rodgers' veterinary oversight. It's not just access; it's a system designed to catch problems early and keep your pet healthier over time.
Is this like pet insurance? +
Vet Buddies is a concierge membership — not pet insurance. We provide ongoing support, guidance, and dedicated care. Emergency surgery, diagnostics, and hospitalization are not included, but we'll always help you navigate those situations and find the right resources.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan? +
Absolutely. You can change your plan at any time. Founding member pricing is locked in for your original tier — upgrades reflect current pricing for the higher tier.
What areas do you serve? +
Dr. Rodgers is currently licensed in Colorado, Texas, Florida, Utah, and Illinois, with the ability to expand to additional states. Messaging-based support and virtual consultations are available to members in all licensed states. In-home visits are currently offered in Northern Colorado (Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, and surrounding areas). If you're outside these areas, reach out — we'll confirm what's available where you are.
Have a question I didn't answer? +
